  1. Is it possible to adjust attendance policies to allow a student to be excused for a certain – obviously limited – number of days without a doctor’s note? Most parents know that a student should stay home, but doesn’t necessarily need to see a doctor, for every minor stomach bug or low-grade fever. I think more parents would exercise caution and keep students home when they have one or two minor symptoms if their student could be excused from classes without the cost of a doctor’s visit.

  2. As far as what would result in a COVID quarantine, a fever according to Office of Public Health would not result in a COVID quarantine because it is considered a minor symptom. That said, it is obviously a major symptom for many other illnesses and per our policy we would need the child or staff to stay home until they are fever free for 24 hours without the assistance of medication.

  4. I appreciate all that you are doing. Can you please clarify protocol for a child with a fever? According to your policy, a fever is a minor symptom and must be accompanied by a second minor system for a child to remain at home. I thought children were always required to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school under any circumstances. Thank you for clarifying.
