The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that, weather permitting, work will begin on the LA 478 reconstruction project on Monday, Oct. 19 and will continue for approximately (4) four months. This base course reconstruction and asphalt overlay project is located on LA 478 from its intersection with LA 117 to the end of state maintenance near Provencal Vowells Mill Road. This 5.210 mile project will receive drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, lime treatment, in-place cement treated base course, in-place cement treated subgrade, asphalt concrete overlay, and related work.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Madden Contracting Co., LLC in the amount of $2,807,695.84.
The contractor will begin milling asphalt pavement on Monday, October 19, 2020 and the roadway will be open to all local and through traffic with no restrictions for passenger vehicles and a 12’ wide lane width restriction for all oversize vehicles. The roadway will be reduced to one lane during construction operations.
All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
