Hurricane Delta Likely to Approach Gulf Coast Friday

Hurricane Delta will move northward across the Gulf of Mexico and will likely approach the Louisiana coastline by late Friday with dangerous winds, life-threatening storm surge, heavy rainfall, and flooding.

Thursday through Tuesday…

Hurricane Delta will make landfall along the central Louisiana Gulf Coast Friday and move northeastward through Saturday. At this time, rainfall amounts of two to five inches, with isolated higher amounts, will be possible across North Louisiana and Southern Arkansas from Thursday through late Saturday night, as the center of Delta moves just to our south and east. Although some isolated instances of flash flooding cannot be ruled out, widespread flash flooding is not expected at this time. In addition, northerly winds with gusts approaching tropical storm force Friday night could bring large limbs down and cause sporadic downed trees and power outages across portions of Central and Northeast Louisiana.
