Last night, the Service League of Natchitoches held its third annual “Shop Local” initiative Jingle & Mingle. The wildly successful event helped inaugurate the Christmas season with over 20 pop-up vendors set up outside the historical Prud’homme-Rouquier House. Eager attendees enjoyed delicious food and drinks prepared with recipes from the League’s three award-winning cookbooks, while perusing for gift items such as jewelry, clothing, home decor, wine, and baked goods. The iconic Miss Merry Christmas and her Christmas Belles were also in attendance to bring some holiday cheer.
Nearly every store and restaurant in the Natchitoches Historic District participated in the initiative by staying open late and offering special sales and discounts to customers. Front street was packed with cars as shoppers were shuttled up and down by horse and carriage.
Jingle & Mingle was organized by the League’s Fund Development Chairwoman, Jessica Nash, with help from the additional 45 active and 200 sustaining members. The event raised nearly $9,000 that will be used to fund the organization’s numerous historical, educational, and charitable endeavors throughout the Natchitoches community.
The Service League of Natchitoches would like to thank everyone who came out and participated to make this year’s event such a success!
