The Northwestern State Athletic Department announced two additions to its external relations staff Monday.
Candler Harris has been named Director of Marketing and Digital Media while Nathan Razo joined the staff as General Manager for Corporate Partnerships.
Harris’ hire is subject to approval by the Board of Supervisors of the University of Louisiana System, which governs Northwestern State University, while Razo joins the department through its partnership with Peak Sports Management.
Harris comes to Northwestern State after spending a year as a marketing associate at Duke. While with the Blue Devils, Harris was responsible for creation and implementation of all marketing and fan experience initiatives for volleyball, wrestling and women’s lacrosse.
He also assisted in planning and executing marketing strategies for Duke men’s and women’s basketball as well as Blue Devils football.
Before his time at Duke, Harris was the director of athletics marketing at Arizona Christian University for nearly two years before serving as the operations and marketing manager at Franklin Pierce University. He also has been a freelance graphic designer for several years.
After earning his undergraduate degree in integrated marketing and communications from Ole Miss, Harris completed his master’s degree in sports law and business at Arizona State in May 2018.
Razo joins the NSU athletic department and Peak families after graduating from Baylor University in 2020.
Upon graduating from Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business S3 (Sports, Strategy and Sales) program, Razo was hired as an account executive at Missouri Western State in the summer of 2020 before that position was eliminated because of COVID-19-related cutbacks.
Razo previously had interned at Missouri Western State where he helped develop sponsorship activation ideas.
While at Baylor, Razo interned with Magnolia, helping the rapidly expanding company build its internal business structure.
“We are thrilled to add both Candler and Nathan to our external team, and I look forward to seeing their energy and passion put to work for the Demons,” said Deputy Athletic Director Dr. Haley Taitano.
