CLOUTIERVILLE – At 4:24pm, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on La. Hwy 495 in Cloutierville according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say 28-year-old Regis Howard of Cloutierville operating a 2013 Nissan Rogue was traveling southbound on La. Hwy 495 when he stated he was distracted by his cellphone apparently causing him to lose control of the vehicle leaving the road on the left side striking a SWEPCO utility pole.
Howard who is uninjured was wearing his seat belt.
The vehicle which received heavy damage was removed from the scene by a local wrecker service.
Deputies say always pay attention to the road while operating a vehicle. Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of crashes that can result in injury or death.
