NPSO: DEPUTIES ARREST CAMPTI MAN ON DRUG CHARGES NEAR NATCHITOCHES

Natchitoches-A traffic stop has led to the arrest of a Campti man on felony drug charges according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday morning January 26 at approximately 2:44am, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division were patrolling on La. Hwy 494 near Cedar Grove Sub-Division south of Natchitoches when they stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe for a traffic violation.

Deputies identified the operator of the vehicle, but also observed an unresponsive male later identified as 32-year-old Demarcus R. Williams of Campti slumped down in the passenger seat.

Deputies summoned Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS to the scene to evaluate the passenger for possible unknown medical reasons.

Deputies say as they assisted Williams out of the vehicle, a bag fell from his pocket onto the ground containing approximately 14.24 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

A search of the vehicle also led to the seizure of a small amount of suspected marijuana.

Williams was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and later released.

Based on the narcotics seizure, deputies obtained a criminal warrant signed by a 10th Judicial District Court for Williams arrest.

Deputies looked for Williams after his release from the hospital but were unsuccessful.

On January 31 at approximately 12:30am, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Lake Street in Campti identifying Williams as the driver.

Deputies arrested:

Demarcus R. Williams, 32, of Campti was transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS I Marijuana and Possession of CDS II Methamphetamine.

Williams has been released on bond pending his court appearance.

The seized narcotics will be submitted to the crime lab for narcotics analysis.
