Aydogmus honored as Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week

NATCHITOCHES — The Northwestern State women’s soccer team had plenty of reason to celebrate the opening week to its season. It received one more reason to celebrate Tuesday.

Junior goalkeeper Acelya Aydogmus was named Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week. She boasted three saves and held Louisiana Tech scoreless in the second half of a 2-1 victory Wednesday. Aydogmus logged a shutout consisting of one save in a 3-0 win over the Warhawks.

This is Aydogmus’ first Southland Conference Player of the Week honor of her career.

Aydogmus and NSU will look to continue its strong play Friday when it opens conference play. Northwestern State battles Sam Houston in Huntsville, Texas, at 6:30 p.m.
