DISTRICT ATTORNEY ANNOUNCES INDICTMENTS IN TWO MURDER CASES

District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington announced that a grand jury has returned two true bill indictments on February 12 for Natchitoches Parish people for murder. The grand jury indicted Da’montraize “Dee” Turner, 21, with one count of 2nd degree murder. The indictment resulted from the homicide of Johneisha Murphy which occurred in March 2020 at a parking lot on Martin Luther King Drive in Natchitoches. Turner was later arrested in October 2020 by the U.S. Marshal’s Service in Arlington, Texas for the homicide.

In a separate case, the grand jury also indicted Alvin Brown, 28, with one count of 2nd degree murder. The indictment resulted from the homicide of Irvin Remo which occurred in November 2020 on Berry Avenue in Natchitoches. The defendants will be arraigned on the charges at an upcoming court date. If convicted, 2nd degree murder provides for a mandatory life sentence.

  1. We hear about the murders in our fair city, and now I’m glad to hear of indictments for at least some of the murders. It would be so good to get Natchitoches cleaned up and looking good. So I thank you, sir!
