St. Mary’s Student Elected to State Beta Club Office

Anna Kate Jackson, a junior at St. Mary’s Catholic School, was recently elected as the president of the Louisiana State Beta Club. She campaigned against seven other candidates that represented the one hundred and fifty Louisiana Beta Club organization. The mission of the Beta club is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. St. Mary’s has had an active Beta club membership for many years. Mr. Michael Landry, a history teacher at St. Mary’s, has been the club sponsor for twenty eight years. This is the second time in the school’s Beta club history to have a state officer. Danielle Chicola was elected as the state vice president in 2003.

Anna Kate will also run for national president at the National Beta Convention later this year.
