Natchitoches Junior High JAG students complete Independent Living Module

Natchitoches Jr. High JAG students were in “mock mode” while working within their Independent Living Module. Amongst other things, The Independent Living module covers: resources to/for job application, how to construct a letter of application & resume’, budgets, and banking.

They have applied for and been interviewed for a job. They’ve learned how to manage a monthly budget, apply for housing (within said budget), sign a lease agreement, pay a security deposit and monthly rent.

Students are “living at The QUAD apartments while attending Northwestern State University. To bring our scenario to life, the students conducted a tour of The QUAD & Northwestern State University. Thanks to our tour guides for their patience, knowledge and enthusiasm.

Students included: Jermarioun Simmons, Shawn West, Sabria Price, Darlisha Jefferson, Jordan Shield, DeCarlos Thompson, Jaquaylon Coleman, MyKennedria Dixon, Jireh Johnson, Mariah Golston, Anaiya Paige, She’Kinya Pipkin, Jayla Vallery, Aaliyah Perry, Zion Prelow, Imari Morrow, Ailoni Bradford, Maria Cano and Emily Rhodes.

  1. We need more of this for our young people. What a great way to teach relevant life skills that are overlooked or missed due to varying homme dynamics!
