No team in the Southland Conference had more first-team All-Academic honorees than the Northwestern State soccer team. Four Lady Demons were recognized as first-team honorees while another garnered second-team recognition.
Junior defensemen Nicole Henry led the way, reeling in the second first-team distinction of her career. The two-time Southland Conference Defender of the Year was part of a defense that allowed a conference-best five goals all season.
Henry is an industrial engineering technology major, holding a 3.35 GPA.
Junior goalkeeper Acelya Aydogmus recorded a single-season team record nine shutouts. The Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Year also owned a single-season school record GAA of .41.
Aydogmus is a health and exercise science major with a 3.78 GPA.
Sophomore defensemen Hallie Field was also part of that stout defensive third. In addition, she registered the game-winning goal in overtime against Southeastern Louisiana.
Field is an accounting and computer information systems double major with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Senior midfielder Alexis Weaver rounds out the first-teamers. She’s an accounting major, holding a 3.69 GPA.
All four aforementioned players were automatic selections All-Academic honorees, as they also garnered first-team All-Southland Conference recognition.
Sophomore forward Olivia Draguicevich made second-team All-Academic. She led NSU offensively with five goals and two assists.
Draguicevich is a communications major with a 3.34 GPA.
Northwestern State finished the 2021 spring season at 9-3-2 overall and 7-3-1 in league action.
