Mayor set as Juneteenth speaker

Natchitoches Mayor Ronnie Williams Jr. will be the featured speaker for the annual Juneteenth celebration on Friday, June 18 in the parking lot of First Baptist Church-North Street and the 200 block of North Street. The event will be held from 5:30-8 pm starting at the First Baptist Church-North Street Parking Lot and the 200 block of North Street. There will be free food, snow cones, various booths, the Parish Library Bookmobile, music and ful for ALL.

The theme for this year’s event is “Breaking the Chains.” This event is open to the public and is sponsored by the UNITY in the Community Committee.

On Saturday, June 19 from 2-8 pm the celebration continues in Payne Subdivision with a parade and activities in the Cherry Loop Park. This portion of the event is sponsored by the Payne Subdivision Enhancement Committee, “A Family Reunion.”
