July 4th in Downtown Natchitoches: Fun, Family and Fireworks

The Natchitoches Downtown Riverbank was filled with families as the city put on its traditional fireworks show to celebrate Independence Day. Several hundred eager fireworks lovers came out to celebrate America, enjoy the beautiful weather and listen to a concert by Southern Rockers Jaryd Lane and the Parish. Earlier that day, the phenomenal Cajun Fiddler, Amanda Shaw, played before a full house of delighted music fans at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame & Northeast History Museum. Ms. Shaw’s show was the first of several concerts of the NSU Folklife Concert series.

The fireworks show, as always, did not disappoint with its usual strong beginning and a crescendo at the end worthy of an artillery barrage. The City of Natchitoches is one of the finest fireworks venues in the USA.

Happy 245th birthday America!

  1. I thought this years 4th of July Fire Works celebration was very short and subpar to all fireworks in 2020. I have spoken to many long time residents who felt the same. Natchitoches Fire Works celebrations have an AWSOME REPUTATION through Louisiana and other states. I as well as others hope this was an exception and not a change in quality. Thanks to all who have made past Fire works celebration great.

  2. Yes, the fireworks were beautiful as always, but personally I was very disappointed that when the music stopped and before the fireworks began, no one from the city came to the microphone and welcomed all the visitors and locals to the celebration or wished our great USA a happy 245th birthday .
