Rotary Club creates scholarship to support NSU students

The Rotary Club of Natchitoches created a scholarship to support students attending Northwestern State University (NSU). Drake Owens, Executive Director of the NSU Foundation and Alumni Association, received the scholarship at the August 3 Rotary meeting. In addition, Jana Lucky, Director of Enrollment Management at NSU discussed enrollment at NSU. She noted it was important to recruit Natchitoches students and that many talked about staying home to attend NSU. She noted that relaxed admission standards were used during COVID-19 semesters (2020-2021); however, selective admissions would return in the Fall of 2022. She said it was important for recruiters to visit high schools, and NSU recruited students from all over Louisiana. At this date, a total of 8200 students are registered for the Fall 2021 semester. This does not include the upcoming regular registration. Campus housing is at capacity with a waiting list.
