  1. West Natchitoches is in need of rent houses by the looks of their situation. Some houses are literally falling down and need to be condemned.
Someone should focus on building up West Natchitoches and helping people in that district!!

  2. I was told the terms are the first 15 years (yes 15 years) is rental only of $1,000 per month and option to purchase after 15 years! If that being the case what kind of condition do you think these houses will be in after 15 years of rental. How many folks do you think will or can pay $1,000 per month and WILL STAY 15 years. Appears to me this will be a revolving door situation as rentals with the poor economy of Natchitoches and surrounding area! The proposed subdivison is in a terrible location on top of the already crowded school areas and ball parks and Drainage is already a problem. There is already excessive traffic on the inadequate St. Maurice Lane Speedway street and will be much worse when Blanchard Road is fixed. Just take a ride down St. Maurice Lane to Blanchard Road and look at the condition of the open drainage ditches. This project needs to go down Keyser Avenue or elsewhere where there is adequate room and adequate drainage.

    • You would think the parents of the schools affected would tell the School Board and the leadership at St Marys to join the request that this project be denied at this location and have the Mayor and Parish President find a location where this type housing already exist. We know they already know where those locations are.

    • And then IF rent is $1000 for 15 years that’s $180,000 and he said at the meeting the cost was gonna be about $220,000. I guarantee the rental person is going to have to finance more than $40,000 to buy the home after that 15 years. This is not a boost this is another form of keeping citizens down and someone from out of state making the real money.

But aside from this we spoke out against this project at the planning & zoning and until the city gets the other issues fixed we will continue to speak out against any developments on St,. Maurice Lane. It’s been 15 years since we tried to get a project approved ourselves and was denied for the same issues with streets, plumbing, drainage & lack of fire truck being able to turn in. Nothing has changed!!!! And after living here 16 years we understand and agree with our own project being denied.
      Do not support.

    • Call or e-mail your city council person and the Mayor and ask them to not approve this project at this location. Ask them to find a suitable location for this developer if they feel it is needed. They know there are many sights owned by the city and parish suitable for this type development.

  3. The Natchitoches Planning and Zoning Commission made a good decision to deny the Glendale Subdivision application. Our streets, drainage, water and sewer system cannot take on anymore. St. Maurice is almost a one-way street now. Please deny this application until these essential upgrades are approved and completed.

  4. No, JD. Not everyone here wants the city to grow. I’ve lived in places that “grew” and they sucked. Bigger is not always better.

  5. I thought everyone in Natchitoches wanted the city to grow. Oh I forgot let the city grow just not if it inconveniences me. Not surprising.
