The NSU Dance Company will present “Modern in Motion IX” Oct. 14-16 in the Alumni Plaza adjacent to the A.A. Fredericks Auditorium. Performance times are 6 p.m. with a 1 p.m. show on Oct. 16. Admission is free but donations will be accepted.
Choreography is by Brett Alan Garfinkel, Kirstin Riehl and Rebecca Morgan. Styles will include modern, contemporary ballet and tap.
“The Alumni Plaza was chosen because it is a place that we all see several times a day and we wanted to explore this location with a different lens,” said Garfinkel, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance and an associate professor of dance. “Being able to see the space as a performance venue has allowed us to appreciate the space more than usual.”
The cast is Abigail Miller of Slidell, Jillian Duggan and Trevor VanEaton of Shreveport, Jacqueline Kay of Bossier City, Mary Scott Pourciau, Hannah Knoff and Sarah Talbot of Baton Rouge, Erin Fallis of Pineville, Robert McCandish of Monroe, Kerrie Spillman of Natchitoches, Makenzie Scroggs of Marksville, Cullen Barrilleaux, Haleigh Giorlando-Wall and Julia Kutcher of New Orleans, Maria Mancera-Romero, Jose Arrieta Cuesta and Joseph Gomez Martinez of Cartagena, Colombia, Mary Strickland of Metairie, Carleigh Murphy of Meadville, Pennsylvania, Grace Williamson of Lake Charles, Treyvin Aucoin of Rayne and Ashlyn Pettis of Prairieville.
