UPDATE FROM SCHOOL BOARD: Natchitoches Police investigate social media threat to local school

UPDATE:

As reported on Oct. 24, threats made against “Central High School” were brought to the attention of the Natchitoches Parish School Board and local law enforcement early Saturday morning.

Though the investigation is ongoing, local law enforcement has stated that there is currently no evidence linking the threat to NCHS.

The original threat occurred in Springfield, MO where several arrests were made. Subsequently, the original post was shared nationwide and has caused panic and disruption in numerous communities with similarly named schools.

Although there is no evidence to suggest a threat made against Natchitoches Central High School, NPSB takes any threat, whether real or perceived, seriously. As an added precaution the City of Natchitoches Police will provide an increased presence this week at NCHS. The increased presence is in conjunction with the two Natchitoches Parish Sheriff deputies already on duty every day at NCHS.

Student safety is the district’s greatest responsibility and admin wants to assure everyone that all measures have been taken to ensure student safety.
