Mrs. Norma Smith, well-known for her green thumb and superior canning abilities, entered 48 canned goods in the Louisiana State Fair’s Canned Fruits, Vegetables, Preserves, Jelly, Jam, Pickles & Relishes competition.

The results were certainly something to write home about. 47 out of her 48 entries placed. She received five white ribbons, 19 red ribbons, and 23 blue ribbons.

Mrs. Smith said, “the one that didn’t [place] will be supper tonight!”

Mrs. Norma lives in Natchitoches Parish (just south of Readhimer)
