
The St. Mary’s basketball teams start their District 1-3A seasons at home tonight, hosting Northwood-Lena’s high-flying teams in a 6 p.m. doubleheader.
The Northwood girls rank No. 1 in the state’s Class A power rankings. The Northwood boys are No. 3.
The SMHS boys rolled to a 70-29 win at East Beauregard in their last outing, as Payne Williams scored 20 and Ben Bienvenu posted a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
The Lady Tigers battled East Beauregard down to the wire.. St. Mary’s got 26 points and 15 rebounds for St. Mary’s but East Beau squeaked out a 48-47 decision.
After tonight’s home games, the St. Mary’s teams will go to Jonesville Friday evening to face Block.
