Helping to enhance the Natchitoches community through service, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated-Theta Delta Chapter at Northwestern, has adopted the Legacy Garden in association with the Ben D. Johnson Educational Center. Located at the rear of the Center, the garden provides fruits and vegetables for Legacy Cafe’, consumer purchase via Legacy Corner Store and selected items for community consumption without a charge.
“As a part of our mission/principles as an organization, we seek on the regular basis to uplift our varied communities through service,” said Keenan Leachman, the fraternity’s basileus (president). “We are pleased to have the organization’s involvement,” remarked Bridgettt Gustofson, the Garden’s coordinator/Americorps VISTA representative at the Center.
Claire Prymus, Ben D. Johnson Educational Center President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) welcomed the Omegas and said “we are honored to have this noted organization to join our efforts and encourage other groups, organizations and individuals to lend volunteer support for the school’s complete efforts.” The adoption includes signage, planting, cleaning and nurturing the Garden through the seasons.
