The Natchitoches City Council appointed Clarissa Brown-Smith as the City’s new Finance Director at its Feb. 14 meeting.

A Natchitoches native, Smith is currently serving as Director of Fiscal Services at Shriners Hospital in Shreveport.

“It’s exciting that I get the opportunity to come back and serve my city,” she said.

She’s been involved in executive finance for 13+ years, beginning at the Outpatient Medical Center as CFO and Interim CEO before going to Shriners.

She has a bachelor’s in accounting from Louisiana College in Pineville and a master’s with an emphasis in accounting from Grand Canyon University.

She has experience in grants management, grant application preparation, budget compilation, quality improvement projects, healthcare management, cost accounting, payroll, adhoc reporting, and annual audit preparation and execution.
