
The Natchitoches City Council passed a proclamation at its May 23 meeting to declare May, 2022 As Mental Health Month In The City Of Natchitoches. Everyone is encouraged to increase awareness and understanding of mental health and steps that can be taken to promote mental wellness. Mayor Ronnie Williams Jr. calls on all citizens to wear kelly green on Tuesday, May 31 and participate in a Mental Health Symposium at 6 pm at the Natchitoches Events Center.
Clarissa Smith – Brown delivered financial information, including the fact that Natchitoches’ year to date tax collections are at $10.4 million, which far exceeds the numbers in 2021. Numbers have been trending upward from 2019, to date. Law Enforcement taxes over the first quarter of the year, each month is 3-5% above where they were last year. TIF (hotel) tax is also doing very well, nearing the $300,000 mark, which is almost a 100% increase over the last 4-5 years. This is anticipated to be an upward trend as well.
