
(Clarence)- Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #3 responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a grass fire on July 11 at 2:22 pm on La. Hwy 6 near Clarence according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
A burn ban was issued today by Natchitoches Parish President John Richmond due to dry conditions in the parish.
Deputies Sims and Padilla arrived on scene to assist NPFD #3 with traffic.
Soon afterwards, Deputy Sims, a former wildland firefighter in Utah got in the rear of the brush truck and began extinguishing the fire while the truck operator moved along the fire.
Deputy Padilla who is in field training and a recent graduate of the Alexandria Regional Police Academy directed traffic at the scene.
