On September 24, 2022, around 6:10 a.m., officers with the Natchitoches Police Department were dispatched to the 4000 block of University Parkway in reference to a fatal motor vehicle crash.
The initial investigation by Natchitoches Police Department revealed that a 2001 Toyota Avalon, driven by Judy Sowell, was traveling westbound on University Parkway. For reasons still under investigation, Judy Sowell’s vehicle exited the roadway and overturned.
Judy Sowell was pronounced deceased by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office as a result of her injuries.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
