
The NCHS Junior ROTC Chiefs Battalion travelled to North DeSoto High School on Oct. 22 to compete in the Griffin Challenge Drill Competition. The Chiefs Battalion ran the table gaining first place in all Drill events as well as the overall First Place for the Armed and Unarmed Divisions. The Chiefs Battalion also earned a 3rd place position in the Physical Training Challenge with a team competing for the very first time.

Army Instructor, Retired First Sergeant Michael Selby was extremely proud of the Battalion’s achievement, however, continues to mentor the cadets on sustaining this success and focuses on continuous improvement.
The Senior Army Instructor, Retired Major Duane Bailey, also acknowledged the Battalion’s success and is extremely appreciative of the entire faculty and staff at NCHS for their support of the JROTC program.
The next test for the Chiefs Battalion will be at Airline High School on Nov. 12 where they will attempt to sustain this success.
