The juggernaut that is the NCHS Lady Chiefs Volleyball Team continued its winning ways Wednesday night, delivering a resounding victory over visiting Henry L. Bourgeois High School of Gray, near Thibodaux, in the first round of the LHSAA playoffs.
The Lady Chiefs, under second-year coach Kerri Kiracofe, imposed a Carthaginian peace on the Bourgeois squad, handily winning the match in straight sets.
While the NCHS team is no stranger to the playoffs, with four previous appearances, Wednesday night’s victory marks the first playoff win in the program’s history.
The Lady Chiefs were 4-0 in district play and with the win Wednesday improved to 29-5 overall this season, a superb record by any standard.
The young women of Lady Chiefs Volleyball excel off the court as well, with most of the team on the A/B honor roll. NCHS Volleyball also consistently places players on the LHSAA Composite All-Academic Team each year. These young women are representing our community with grit, determination, and talent.
The Lady Chiefs’ next match will be at home this Saturday, November 5 at 11 a.m. against Metairie’s Archbishop Chapelle. Go Chiefs!
