Five injured in I-49 crash near Cypress Sunday morning

 
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #5 and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a two-vehicle roll-over crash with injuries on Dec. 18 at 3 am on Interstate-49 (northbound) near milepost #128 just south of the Cypress exit according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
 
While law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services were responding to the scene, NATCOM 911 began receiving additional 911 calls reporting that another crash occurred while a vehicle was traveling northbound and crashed into the wreckage.
Two vehicles were then reported overturned with multiple injuries.
 
Deputies, Louisiana State Police and Natchitoches Parish Fire District #5 arrived on scene finding at least 5 people suffering from minor-to-moderate injuries.
 
An additional NRMC EMS Unit and Life Air helicopter were dispatched to the scene.
 
Deputies diverted traffic off the interstate at the Cypress exit over on to La. Hwy 120.
 
The interstate was closed for a couple of hours while Troopers assigned to LSP Troop-E Alexandria investigated the crash.
 
1-person was airlifted from the scene, while 4 others were transported to regional hospitals for treatment of injuries which were believed to be non-life threatening.
 
The cause of the crashes are under investigation by State Police Troop-E.
