The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department announced on March 7 that its Traffic Division stopped a car for speeding on March 6. Deputies detected an odor of marijuana and searched the vehicle, locating illegal narcotics. The driver of the car was identified as Devin Helaire, 20 of Natchitoches. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
