(CAMPTI)-A north Natchitoches Parish man operating a stolen vehicle was arrested on March 10 around 10:20 pm after leading Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies on a 16-mile pursuit into Red River Parish according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.

NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau deputies were patrolling in the Town of Campti when they observed a tan 2012 Chevrolet Suburban traveling on US-71.

Deputies learned while running the license plate information through the National Crime Information Center that the vehicle was reported stolen in Winn Parish.

The pursuit began to slow for another 2 miles on La. Hwy 784 and lead to a hunting camp road. Scallion exited the vehicle and ran into some nearby woods.

Deputies issued commands to Scallion to stop, however, he refused. Deputies pursued Scallion on foot into the woods, where he was taken into custody following a brief struggle.

There were no injuries.

Deputies say while searching the wooded area of the foot pursuit, they discovered and seized a blue zip-up bag containing a small amount of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a wallet containing Scallion’s identification.

An inventory of the stolen vehicle led to the recovery of three firearms:
*1-Huntsman .58 caliber muzzloader
