Friedman donates land for FAUNA animal shelter

L-R – Rachel LeBlanc (President of FAUNA Board of Directors) Sam Friedman, Edwina Friedman

Sam & Edwina Friedman donated 6 acres of land to FAUNA (Friends All United for Natchitoches Animals) for the construction of an animal shelter to serve Natchitoches Parish. The land is located on Hwy 1 Bypass, near the Hwy 1 intersection. The Friedmans have been long-time supporters of local animal rescue groups, and they were inspired to donate the land when they learned that the two local rescue groups united to form FAUNA with the goal of building a pet adoption and community center.

“We are honored to be a part of improving animal welfare conditions in Natchitoches Parish, and we believe FAUNA is on target with their vision of creating a pet adoption and community center that provides a location for community gatherings and educational opportunities. We support FAUNA and their mission to move away from the idea of a traditional shelter to an interactive center for our community. That is the way to get animals out of shelters and into homes.” – Sam & Edwina Friedman

FAUNA Mission Statement:
Our mission is to provide and promote humane treatment for homeless and neglected animals in need by working with the community to find them caring homes.
Striving to be a low kill community, we will provide programs and services to create a society of responsible pet owners. As animal advocates, we will be a voice for those creatures who cannot speak for themselves.
