The Louisiana Association of Student Councils held its annual workshop at Northwestern State University this week June 5-9. The meeting, held at NSU for the past 49 years, brought together 380 high school student leaders from 80 Louisiana high schools for a week of fun and education.
The student council members were divided into “families” with whom they would spend the week. The theme of the workshop was “The Pet Shoppe” and the student groups were named after animals. The students learned the ins and outs of running successful meetings, achieving goals as well as leadership skills.
Next week will see 160 middle school students who serve on their school’s student councils arrive at NSU for a week of fun and learning.
