A Vernon Parish man suffered moderate non-life threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash on June 22 around 9:16 pm on Hwy. 117, just north of Kisatchie, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #4 Rescue, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS, US Forest Service, and Provencal Police responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of an overturned vehicle with possible entrapment and injuries on Hwy. 117 north of Kisatchie.
Units arrived on scene finding the vehicle overturned and the sole-occupant suffering from moderate non-life threatening injuries.
Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter was dispatched to a landing zone set-up at the New Kisatchie Cemetery for air transport.
Deputies say a 2001 Ford Ranger operated by a 54-year-old Leesville man was traveling southbound on Hwy. 117 north of Kisatchie when for reasons still under investigation exited the road on the right side.
The vehicle then traveled through a ditch striking a culvert overturning coming to a rest on it’s top.
First Responders were able to free the man from the wreckage.
The patient was transported from the scene by EMS to the landing zone and airlifted to a regional trauma center for treatment of injuries.
Troopers assigned to LSP Troop-E Alexandria are investigating the crash.
