NCHS Volleyball Starts on the Path to Victory

The ladies of NCHS volleyball got their season off to an auspicious start in a scrimmage at home against the Benton Lady Tigers. The Lady Chiefs made short work of both the Varsity and Junior Varsity Lady Tigers, handily winning both matches in straight sets. The NCHS student section, easily the best in the parish, was packed and supporting the home team with their customary volcanic intensity.

Lady Chiefs Volleyball is the youngest high school sports team of any school in the parish. Since its founding in 2016, the team has quickly built a culture of excellence, with multiple playoff appearances and winning seasons. In fact, there have been years in which they were the winningest sports program of any sport of any school in the parish.

The young women of Lady Chiefs Volleyball, under third year coach Kerri Kiracofe, excel off the court as well, with most of the team on the A/B honor roll. NCHS Volleyball also consistently places players on the LHSAA Composite All-Academic Team each year. The U.S. Marine Corps honored the team with an academic award in 2022. These young women represent our community with grit, class, and talent. They are a joy to watch!

The Lady Chiefs’ next home match will be Tuesday, August 29 against Many. The Natchitoches Parish Journal extends its best wishes to Lady Chiefs volleyball for another juggernaut of a season. Go Chiefs!
