In an auspicious beginning to the school year, the M. R. Weaver School was filled with several hundred students, parents and family members attending the school’s open house Tuesday, Aug 22. Principal Armetrice Williams introduced her faculty and support staff and spoke to the attendees about her expectations for the year. Ms. Williams is in her third year as a principal and is ready to build on last year’s student success. After the introductions, the families proceeded to their child’s homeroom to meet their teachers, tour the school, and complete paperwork.
The 369 young men and women of the Weaver Flyers have much to choose from to continue the fun and learning after the final bell. The school has a large 4-H program, a superb music program, a WIN (What I Need) program offering assistance to students who need help, and is continuing its superb Good News Club, one of nine such clubs in schools throughout the parish. With a school nurse, social worker and cafeteria workers serving breakfast and lunch, Weaver Elementary has a solid team in place to keep the children happy, well fed, healthy and learning free from unnecessary distractions.
The Natchitoches Parish Journal wishes the boys and girls of the M. R. Weaver School every success in their academic journey through the school year. We are looking forward to seeing their accomplishments!
