Creole Heritage Festival features photo exhibit by Michael Yankowski

The Creole Heritage Festival will be held Oct. 13-15  at St. Augustine Church and will feature a photography exhibit by Art Professor Michael Yankowski.

During the summer of 1995, Yankowski spent his mornings driving along Cane River in search of images which captured the people and scenery.  He attempted to document the picturesque qualities which makes the area charming, beautiful and unique.

Having lived, worked, and traveled extensively at home and abroad, he moved his family from Wisconsin in 1987 to teach art and photography at Northwestern State University.  Cane River became a new and exciting location to explore.

These are a few of the hundreds of photographic images recorded on 35mm film.  Ultimately, this collection has become a visual time capsule.
