NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau deputies responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a shooting at a bonfire on Nov. 4 around 12:12 am in the 900 block of Catholic Lane near Clarence.
Deputies arrived on scene finding one person lying on the ground suffering from an apparent single gunshot wound to the right thigh area. Deputies and an off-duty paramedic began life saving measures by applying a tourniquet to the victims leg.
Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS and a medical helicopter responded to the scene.
Detectives assigned to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau responded to the scene. Deputies photographed and taped off the crime scene, interviewed potential witnesses, gathered evidence and information for an offense report. Deputies say a large crowd was at the event.
Detectives say the 19-year-old St. Maurice man was airlifted from the scene to a regional trauma center where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit listed in stable condition.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
