Packing parties held for Operation Christmas Child

The youth from Freedom Life Church had so much fun packing shoeboxes. They understand the impact a simple shoebox will make in a child’s eternal life.

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry through Samaritan’s Purse that spreads the gospel to over 170 countries. It is a tangible way to share God’s love to millions of children.

The shoeboxes are given to children ages 2-4, 5-9, and 10-14 in third world countries.  For many children, this is the FIRST gift they have ever received. The boxes are packed with school supplies, toiletries (no liquids), clothing and shoes, toys and a “WOW” item.

The goal for the West Central La Team (Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, and Winn Parish) for 2023 is 18, 663 shoeboxes.

National Collection Week is November 13-20. Two Drop Off locations are First Baptist Church on Second Street in Natchitoches and First Baptist Church in Robeline.

These shoeboxes will be collected, packed in cartons, loaded in trailers and sent to Dallas Processing Center. At the processing center each shoebox will be opened and checked for inappropriate items such as liquids, candy, toothpaste, war items. These items will be removed and replaced with appropriate items that customs will allow.  The integrity of the shoebox is always in the packer’s  forethought. The shoeboxes are then sorted according to sex and age (2-4, 5-9, and 10-14) and placed in cartons accordingly.

It is not too late to get a shoebox and pack. Shoeboxes are located at Anala Salon, Rolling Hills Thrift Store, Dr. Jimmy Cade’s office, Family Eye Care, and Moves. For more information contact Brenda Ingram at 471-9415.
