Robeline News: Tis the Season

By Courtney Freeman

Like everyone else in Natchitoches Parish, Robeline is ramping up to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. Decorations are going up all over the village, plans are being finalized for Christmas in the Park and the local churches are preparing for their annual Christmas plays.

Robeline’s Christmas in the Park will be held Saturday, Dec. 16 directly after the parade. There will be food, live music, activities, giveaways and games for everyone to enjoy and much more. Donations are still being collected for the toy drive that will happen during the festivities. All donations can be brought to city hall. Dollar General also has a box set up for donations by the entrance of their store.

In an expansion of our Annual Christmas in the Park this year’s events will include Robeline’s first Christmas parade. The parade will kick off the celebrations at 3 p.m. Parade applications will be accepted until Dec. 14 at 12 p.m. Applications can be picked up from city hall or by contacting Wayne O’Con -(318)4718821, Gordon O’Con- (318)652-4265, Patty Moak-(318)471-2266, or Carl Ferrier-(318)228-0087.

Hickory Grove C.M. Church, located at 8673 Hwy. 6, would like to invite the community to their Christmas play Sunday, Dec. 10 at 11 A.M.

Apostolic Truth Tabernacle will perform Strangers at the Inn on Friday, Dec. 22 at 7:30 P.M. All are invited to come enjoy the hard work of the youth department and a meal will be provided afterwards in the fellowship hall.

All of these events are a good time to slow down and get out and spend time with your community. All the while remembering that while the lights, gifts and music are fun, there is a reason for the season and his name is Jesus.
