As many Robeline residents are desperately missing having a bank in town, I am happy to report that there is progress being made. After insurance claims and all that goes into dealing with a fire, plans have been drawn up for our new Robeline Branch. It is my understanding that the new building will be made of cinderblock, instead of the the brick and board the old branch was. I would assume the bank owners are wanting something that can take a hit better since the LA Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) still has not had the sense to put a guard rail in the S-curve. The plans are currently in the office of the State Fire Marshal for approval. So like everyone else I am hoping that before long we will see the beginnings of actual construction.
Across the highway we are seeing the beginnings of construction on our new clinic. To my knowledge the opening date is still tentatively in July. The clinic is going to be a prefabricated metal building, so I believe construction on it will go much faster and could be completed within the given time frame. And hopefully the pharmacy would come online early in the new year if all goes well.
We’re all looking forward to having our bank back and the opening of the clinic. These are and will be wonderful additions to our community. We just have to remember sometimes good things take time.
The Heritage Society fish fry that was supposed to take place on April 27 was postponed. I will share when a new date is decided.
I would also like to remind our community that Apostolic Truth Tabernacle will host a youth rally Friday night, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to enjoy a wonderful service followed by food and fellowship.
