Heavy law enforcement presence on scene of shooting in Natchez

 
A heavy law enforcement presence is on the scene of a shooting in Natchez according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.
 
At 8:16pm, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Operations Bureau responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a shooting in the 100 block of La. Hwy 119 in Natchez just south of the Natchez Place Apartments.
 
Deputies arrived on scene finding a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
 
Natchitoches Police, Louisiana State Police, and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS also responded to the scene to assist.
 
Five NPSO Sheriff’s Detectives are responding to gather information, process the crime scene and interview potential witnesses.
 
The victim has been transported from the scene to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
 
The investigation is in it’s early stages. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Crime Scene Detectives say La. Hwy 119 in Natchez is closed at this time.
 
If you are traveling through the area, use an alternate route. The road is expected to be closed for several hours.
