The Natchitoches Parish Library (NPL) is thrilled to announce the launch of our annual Summer Reading Program, themed “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” This summer, we invite readers of all ages to embark on a thrilling journey filled with stories, activities, and events designed to inspire a love of reading and exploration. Reading is logged per every two hours read and can be done online at natchitoches.beanstack.org, via the “Beanstack Tracker” app, or in person at any NPL circulation desk. For children, ages 0 to 12, the library offers programming that lets young readers experience this year’s theme in a fun way: they get to learn, create, and explore while having fun. For every two hours a child reads or is read to, they can pick up their earned prize from the Children’s Desk. And for their sixth prize they will receive a special SRP themed t-shirt as well as an entry into the children’s grand prize drawing at the end of the program. The reading doesn’t stop then either: for every two additional hours read, they earn additional entries into the grand prize drawing!
Teens, ages 13 to 17, have their own events for SRP as well as prize earning opportunities! For every two hours of reading, up to 12 hours, they’ll earn a reward, with the sixth prize being an SRP-themed tote. At 12 hours teens, and for every two hours after that, they will also earn an entry for the drawing at the end of the program.
Summer reading is for adults as well! All summer long, they can attend special library programming tailored specifically for them. It’s a fun time to explore new interests and interact with others. For every two hours read each week (and reading to your kids counts as well), adults will earn an entry into a weekly prize drawing, with entries carrying over from week to week. Prizes have been donated by local businesses and include gift certificates and other items. On the sixth and final week, there will be a grand prize drawing – so keep reading all summer long to increase your chances!
