Natchitoches’ Downtown Riverbank Stage was the place to be Friday, June 21, as the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame’s Induction Celebration hosted Rockin’ Riverfest. The popular event, long part of the annual induction of each new class of Louisiana sports legends into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, featured concerts and family fun for children at the riverbank, all free of cost to anyone attending.
South Louisiana’s Coteau Grove made its first area appearance, kicking off the festivities with a fun set of music drawn from an eclectic selection of hits. They were followed by the iconic Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs who kept the fun going with their high energy show. The Louisiana Propane Dealers Association sponsored several holes of mini golf on the riverbank for youngsters and their families.
The 2024 LSHOF Induction Class was introduced to the public during a break in the concert. The 2024 Miss Louisiana and 2024 NSU Lady of the Bracelet, Madison Simms, were also introduced. After the 2024 LSHOF induction class was presented, festivalgoers were treated to a spectacular fireworks show over the Cane River, always a treat. After the fireworks, the event concluded with some more superb music from Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs.
Miss Louisiana, Olivia Grace George, NSU’s Lady of the Bracelet, Madison Simms. and WNBA and Olympic champion Seimone Augustus, delighted the crowd with a bit of lagniappe as they joined Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs in a rendition of “Brown Eyed Girl”.
