Robeline News: Bank construction update and Heritage Festival information

By Courtney Freeman

Robeline Heritage Festival week is upon us and we’re so excited. And like every year no matter how much I try to be better organized it’s a hectic and crazy week for me. I think it’s probably the unwritten rule of festival planning, or at least I hope so and it’s not just me.

On Friday night, Oct. 4, we’ll kick off the festival with our gospel and kids night at 5:30 p.m. The French family will open for the Stewart Family for musical entertainment. The Village of Robeline will provide hot dogs for all the kids in the park and Mr. David will drive the hayride trailer.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, the Heritage Society will host an open house of their Heritage Building. There will be Robeline Memorabilia displayed in the conference room. Mr. Lambert’s book will be for sale as well as Festival T-shirts and shotgun raffle tickets. Coffee and donuts will also be available for the visitors.

The Queen’s Tea will be held in the Police Depot for all visiting queens at 11:30 a.m.

The parade will begin at 2 p.m. and line up will begin at 1 p.m. The line up roster will be sent out by Friday. We’re still accepting parade entries, I can be reached at 318-354-7019. Please come be part of a wonderful time.

After the parade the Society will recognize Mr. Maines for the donation of our Heritage building and the Parish Council for allowing us to keep it on parish property. We will then introduce our Grand Marshall, Mr. Dean Lambert and the pageant queens will introduce themselves.

We will have a packed out park this year with 20 vendors at the time of publication. There will be plenty of food and craft vendors with a good variety of items for sale. We also will have 3 bounce houses, a bull ride and inflatable obstacle course.

At 5:30 p.m. Gerald Mitchell and his band will start off the musical entertainment of the evening and The Dirt Road Troubadours will begin their performance at 7 p.m.

The Alumni Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. in the gym of Apostolic Truth Tabernacle located across the street from the park.

We’re looking forward to a wonderful weekend in Robeline and hope many can come join in the fun.

On a non festival related note, I was beyond excited to see the walls going up on the new Sabine bank. Take heart Robeline, the wait is almost over.
