Detective Sgt. Garrett Murchison named Deputy of the Month for November

 
Sheriff Stuart Wright recently presented Detective Sgt. Garrett Wayne Murchison with the “November Deputy of the Month” plaque for his outstanding work ethic, professionalism and dedication to the NPSO and citizens of Natchitoches Parish.
 
Detective Sgt. Murchison, a 14-year veteran began his law enforcement career at Natchitoches Police Department serving 7-years then transferred to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office where he has served the last 7-years assigned to the NPSO Criminal Investigations and Narcotics Bureau.
 
Sgt. Murchison, is mostly involved in criminal and long-term narcotics investigations.
 
Murchison, a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School of Natchitoches also has a degree in Arts from Northwestern State University. He is a member of Natchitoches SWAT, Natchitoches Drug Enforcement Unit, NPSO firearms instructor, defensive tactics instructor, and FBI Safe Streets Task Force member.
 
Detective Sgt. Murchison was selected to receive the award by a group of his supervisors and peers.
 
NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau Major J. Byles, said Sgt. Murchison is a thorough hard worker, dedicated to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office and citizens of Natchitoches Parish.”
 
NPSO Drug Enforcement Unit Lt. J. Roberts said Sgt. Murchison is an invaluable asset to our department and true friend. He exemplifies a strong work ethic and is dedicated to mentoring deputies through his various instructor roles, all while effectively combating and working with other agencies to investigate, identify and arrest the region’s most significant drug dealers. He is long overdue for this award.”
