After the devastating fire of 2019, the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, Dec. 7. As a gesture of unity, all Catholic churches are being invited to peal their bells at 1 pm CST, at the same time as the bells are heard in Paris. With the Diocese of Alexandria having a deep French heritage, Bishop Robert Marshall has invited all of the churches to join in this gesture of solidarity. Fr. Irion St. Romain will ring the bell at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for 10 minutes.
