Robeline News: Week of December 24

By Courtney Freeman

At the village meeting this month, all normal business was handled and the issue of annexation was tabled to next month. While the issue of the alleyways in the village continues to be the perpetual thorn in the flesh. Most of the village’s alleys are overgrown, some of neglect and others on purpose for privacy. Most of the discernable ones left are maintained as extensions of people’s yards or for drainage. Most are happy or at least ok with this. Sadly most is not all.

On a happier note the village held their annual Christmas parade on Saturday. It was a fun time with plenty of candy to pick up. I’d say the unofficial theme was The Grinch, based on how many were in the parade. Gumbo and hot dogs followed in the park with bounce houses for the kids. There was also another very nice toy and bike giveaway. Thank you to everyone who donated time, money, toys and materials to the event. It was a fun time with our community.

As Christmas approaches I like to remind us all of the reason for the season, his name is Jesus. And with him comes hope. Hope for a better world and hope beyond this world. I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and if I don’t find anything to write about next week, a Happy New Year.
