The monthly Young at Heart luncheon for seniors was held on Feb. 5 at the First United Methodist Church.
Michael Rorex, the church’s Chancel Choir Director, and Louis Malaver, NSU international student, entertained the gathering with a stirring musical program featuring beloved hymns and show tunes.
January/February birthdays were celebrated by Bennie Rhodes, Joyce Cobb, and Waldean Shaw. Bennie Rhodes also celebrated her wedding anniversary. Valentine decorations were provided by the church’s Bostick-Bradley Circle. Harvey Polk served as Master of Ceremonies and offered a prayer before the meal.
Young at Heart meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11 AM in Bostick Hall at the church (enter through doors under the bell tower). The meeting is non-denominational, and all seniors are invited to come and enjoy the good food, fellowship, and entertainment. Attendees are asked to pay a $5 fee or to bring a covered dish to share. The next meeting is scheduled for the 5th of March.
