A vehicle and motorcycle crash on Interstate 49 southbound near milepost 152 resulted in injuries and a significant emergency response on Wednesday evening.
According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m. Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS, and Natchitoches Parish Fire District #7 responded to the scene.
An Air EVAC Lifeteam medical helicopter was also dispatched and landed at the Ajax exit to assist with medical transport. Authorities reported that the injuries sustained in the crash were moderate to serious but not life-threatening.
Deputies, along with fire personnel, worked to manage traffic and establish a landing zone for the helicopter. NPSO Sgt. C. Crow, Deputy B. Keyser, and Deputy T. Graves assisted Louisiana State Police in directing vehicles through the area.
Drivers were advised to proceed with caution and expect possible delays while emergency crews worked at the scene.
