Natchitoches Police arrest suspect for shooting on Brahma Drive

The Natchitoches Police Department has arrested Ajai Johnson (B/M, 32 y.o.a. of Natchitoches) for Second Degree Cruelty to Juveniles, Possession of a firearm by a Convicted Felon and Illegal use of a Weapon.

Natchitoches Police Department officers were dispatched to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center on Feb. 25 around 10:30 p.m. in reference to a patient suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon officers arrival they made contact with the victim who said that she was in her bedroom when a bullet came through the wall. The victim was transported to a hospital in Rapides Parish for further treatment.

Investigators with the Natchitoches Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Violent Crime Task Force were able to determine that Ajai Johnson fired a gun inside the residence which led to the victim being shot.

Detectives were able to execute a search warrant of the suspect’s residence and vehicle. This led to the recovery of a firearm and several other pieces of evidence that will be sent to the crime lab for further analysis.

Ajai Johnson was placed in the LaSalle Corrections / Natchitoches Detention Center.
